London, England – June 1966 -- the group’s first trip there, but they went without Michelle, who had officially been "fired" from the group. It was on this trip that Cass first met her idol, John Lennon. Later on that summer, Michelle was officially back in the group.

When the group returned from London to the United States in June 1966, Mama Michelle Phillips did not meet them at the airport. As soon as The Mamas & Papas returned home from the UK, they began recording and touring with new member, Mama Jill Gibson. Michelle returned to the group several months later. She did eventually meet them at the airport in Phoenix, at John's request, but that was in August 1966. It was after the Phoenix concert show the group did with her gorgeous replacement, Jill Gibson. Michelle mentioned this time period in her book and she also spoke about that time again in the documentary film 'Straight Shooter'.
