Denny and me 1997 – picture #1 – Another fan had asked Denny for his autograph, and he said, “Wait a minute, I’ll be right back”, and took off across the stage away from us. I saw my one chance to meet him disappearing in the wake of his departure and in a move totally out of character for me, I chased him across the stage, with my friend Wendy following behind me, camera in tow. I tapped him on the shoulder, and he turned around; I said, “I’ve waited thirty years to meet you.” He lit up like ten Christmas trees, and for a moment in time, I had the feeling that he had been waiting thirty years to meet me, too. By the look on his face, maybe he had been.
